Huon Trail

The 'Huon Trail' begins south of Hobart. It takes you through the Huon Valley, D'Entrecasteaux Channel & Bruny Island - a region of waterways & wilderness; art, craft & heritage; apple blossom and vineyards; farmers, foresters and fishermen.

Follow the Huon Trail stopping at the sign posts along the way. Look for the sea eagle and the hand-carved celery top pine-framed signs at 24 locations in the region.

Bruny Island

From the picturesque harbour of Kettering - just a few minutes drive from Tulendena - you can take a short vehicular ferry ride to Bruny Island from the picturesque harbour of Kettering. Take in Bruny's scenery (Tasmanians often drop the Island and know this unique and breathtaking island just as "Bruny"). Oyster Cove Marina

Kettering has been a boating centre for a hundred and fifty years. With this marina as a safe haven for your boat, your hard earned leisure time can be spent cruising rather than commuting.

A short drive from Tulendena you will find a tranquil setting at Coningham Beach.

Snowy Range Trout Fishery

Located on the edge of Tasmania's southwest wilderness region, Snowy Range Trout Fishery offers visitors a fantastic fishing experience. The ponds, filled from the crystal clear waters of the Little Denison River, are well stocked with Atlantic salmon, rainbow and brown trout. Just over an hour's drive from Tulendena.

Roaring Forties Kayaking

Get some exercise and explore the scenic coves of the nearby D'Entrecasteaux Channel. After some basic instruction the group will make the short crossing to Bruny Island by Kayak! Once safely on the other side of the Channel we visit one of Tasmania's many Atlantic Salmon farms before landing on a small island for a lazy lunch. When the afternoon breeze beckons, we commence our return, surfing the small waves back to Kettering. The Roarting Forties sea kayaking facility is only a few minutes drive from Tulendena.

Australian Antarctic Division

Public visitors are welcome at the Australian Antarctic Division's headquarters at Kingston, Tasmania, which is open from 9.00 am until 5.00 pm on each business day. View artefacts, videos and information on Australia's Antarctic program.

The Deepings Dolls

The Deepings. Woodturners of international repute - it is a unique craft experience - just a fifteen minute drive from Tulendena. You will find fine handmade wooden dolls - crafted from Tasmanian timbers. A woodturner is on hand to demonstrate the skills and techniques in this old, old craft. Also available are a large range of craft produced by the skilled crafts people of the region.

Cygnet Folk Festival

The peaceful village of Cygnet comes alive in January each year, when some of Australia's - and the world's - best folk and cultural performers gather for a long weekend of world class entertainment. Tulendena is just a twenty minute drive to Cygnet.
